And I am feeling SOOO spoiled! What an awesome package!!! I can't even believe how nice it was. Here's some pics...but let me describe the wonders that were in store for me - first and foremost, the most fantastic knit and felted bag - a BIG bag that can fit all my knitting, not just socks! 4 balls of great Rowan yarn for the Clock Sock pattern in Folk Socks - she gave me the Folk Socks book, with a HP bookmark to mark my place!! This is awesome, because I'm in the SCA and I've heard great things about this book from the person who taught me how to knit. The yarn is in a nice rich red, which has made my husband claim it as HIS yarn to make HIS socks. Also, the stitch markers she sent me were just great - they had dragons and trees, lions and Gryffindor crests!! I love them! Plus, there were a ton of other goodies, like candy and a hand embroidered Goblet of Fire stitch marker tin - OH! and a hand made Gryffindor Needle Case, which I really needed!! YAY!!! Emma, you really, really outdid yourself!!! I hope I'm not forgetting anything - I might be, there was just so much stuff in my package! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Upon arriving home after a long, cold, tiring day I found a package on my front step. What a great reward for making it through another Monday. I love what you sent me, Laurie Ann! There is GORGEOUS yarn from Knit Piks in Ravenclaw colors...so soft! A set of Brittany needles in size 3 and wonderful ebony needles in size 1. Brittany is one of my favorite brands. I've never tried the ebony needles so it will be fun to have something new to experiment with.

And then there is the book Knitting on the Road. I immediately had to sit down and perruse that. I think I've already picked out the socks I am going to knit with the Ravenclaw yarn. I SO want to start tonight but there are those Christmas gifts I have to finish first! I'm still a novice sock knitter, but this book makes me aspire to be an "expert". Laurie Ann also included some beautiful Ravenclaw stitch markers. I really love the deep colors in the markers.

But...the very, very BEST part of the whole packages were the MINNESOTA VIKINGS STITCH MARKERS!!! YES!!!! I can take them to the games with me and they will match my purple sweatshirt and purple and gold beads and Vikings hat! (Skoal, Vikings! Let's win this game!)

I want to thank Catherine for the beautiful parcel I received today. The package included a skein of 100% super wash merino wool, hand dyed locally by Fleece Artist (who just happens to be right down the road). Also Catherine taught herself how to make stitch markers and practiced with Gryffindor house colors until there was a set she liked. She gathered together magic loop and Harry Potter-themed sock patterns. I think I'll try to Fawks pattern first. The goodies did not stop there, she sewed a brocade bag which can hold all my sock making materials for this project. The special material was cut from the same cloth she used to make an infant carrier for her son. Also added was a chocolate called Coffee Crisp (because she saw I was in Coffee Swap 3 also). The chocolate is only available in Canada so it was a treat for this girl from Hawaii. I also received US number one 32" circular needle from Knitpicks I can use to practice the Magic Loop. She also visited the Anne (of Green Gables) store on Prince Edward Island and sent me a pen (I'm in that knit and read along). Again, I appreciate this pal's work so much because I can see she put a lot of time and thought into her work. I only hope we can meet some day at a knitting event.

I just got the most amazing package ever!! It had to take a layover in NY for about 2 weeks since I'm in the process of moving, but my owl made it here unscathed.

Nancy, you went above and beyond. Here's a picture of the whole lot:

There's a beautiful messenger felted bag, a snitch dishcloth, Harry Potter candy, bath potions, bamboo needles, stitch markers with a case, Razzy Tazzy superwash yarn, and a Cookie A pattern. I really can't believe how amazing everything is!! Check out the full details in my ramblings here.

Gentle reminders

Hi all

As I know Jenean is very busy and has limited internet access, I just wanted to post a couple of gentle reminders here. Firstly, can you all please make sure you post on your blog when you have received your parcel - and a thank you is always good :) The initial sign up states "You also have to acknowledge in a blog post when you've received your package from your swap partner within 3 days of receiving it". I know this hasn't always been done, so if you haven't, please do so as soon as - its only fair to your partner who has put a lot of time and effort into putting your gifts together.

Also, if you haven't yet sent your parcel, please can you get a move on. The swap did finish on 31 October which is now two weeks ago. A few people are still waiting for parcels, and haven't yet heard from their partner. I know that often time gets away with us and real life tends to take over, but please in the least contact your pal to tell them when to expect their gift. If however there is a problem and you are unable to send a parcel, please let myself, Jenean or your house prefect know asap so that we can sort out angels for those without gifts.

Saturday evening, I was playing outside with my wee ones and realized a big owl had landed right by the side of my house (that's where the owls hide if we're not home when they land.) It was my HSKS3 box!

Mary's amazing package left me speechless! I still haven't stopped ooohhing and aaaahhhing over this beautiful Ravenclaw grey and blue bag that she made! It's just perfect for a book and yarn carrying chick like me...

Then there is that gorgeous yarn she dyed herself! And the sock pattern.... the stitch markers, nine of them... and let's NOT forget those amazing Brittany needles and still more other wonderful and thoughtful goodies!!

I am the luckiest Hufflepuff at Hogwarts! My priority "Owl" arrived today in the midst of a dreary Nor'easter and it was like Christmas! Parcel from Germany

I got a parcel from Germany last week - we've had visitors since Thursday (my friend and her two little girls so rather busy!!) . I did take lots of pictures as I was unwrapping the parcel but unfortunately something happened to the camera and my hubby managed to re-format the card thus deleting my pictures grrrr.

So I think I found all the goodies and have taken a photo this morning (there was more chocolate....hahaha). If I've missed anything from the picture I apologise to Yvonne.

She sent some sock yarn which I think she dyed herself which is in pink and yellow, two little knitted bags in a similar yarn (the smaller one is perfect size for my Nintendo DS!!!) the Fawkes pattern which is one I've been thinking of trying for ages and will be perfect for the Gryffndor yarn. She also sent a little booklet of german patterns which has some really cool sock patterns...bamboo dpns, gorgeous stitch markers, bath pearls and german chocs with marzipan (already eaten) and some more dark chocolate (yum!)

She sent me a most adorable Booga bag, two skeins of Lorna's Laces, handcrafted needles, a Cookie A pattern, a sock blocker keychain with yarn for a mini sock (I had to cast this on right away!), a beenie Hedwig and oodles of candy (tucked away in my bag)! Spoiled--I don't think the word even covers it!

I have been totally spoiled by the wonderful Tammy. My exchange gift arrived in the post today, and I am bowled over with delight. I took lots of pictures and will update my blog tomorrow with pictures and the 411. I just wanted to say thank you Tammy, you went above and beyond the swap expectations. Don't you just love this project bag in Ravenclaw house colours?

Just a tease, but she sent her own hand dyed Faery Fiber yarn (in colours that are to "dye" for), her esty shop is opening soon and I will certainly be stopping by. The strangest part was that I was checking out her blog the other day, not knowing she was my swap pal, and thinking that I had to have some of the yarn on the far right - just my colours.

I LOVE everything that I recieved and as you can expect all the candy is gone! But I really love everything! I'll admit the sock pattern is a little scary but I think when I finally get done with my Stole I'll be able to do lace socks with beads! The only question I've got is how do I use the big eye thingy? I know it's for threading beads on your yarn but I haven't got a clue how????? Thanks so much for being an awesome partner! Greetings Fellow Hufflepuffs and congrats on winning the cup. Second, let me appologize for being MIA this weekend. Yes, I posted twice on Friday once at 11 or so and later at about 6p. I was at work until 7 or 8p.m. and then cleaning out the inlaws house until 11p Fri/Sat and Sunday nights. I completely missed any posts over the weeekend - and I am sorry that we did not have 100% participation due to me.

While I am not posting excuses, I just wanted to let you know I was not pool side goofing off - I just had "life stuff" that had to be dealt with - again, I am sorry.

This has been a really fun swap group and I am having fun reading posts, blogs, etc. I just don't want any of my fellow housemates to think I am a total looooozzzzer for my lack of participation.

A quick blog post of a cut and paste email may have lead you to believe I was here and in front of my computer over the weekend.. nope - I had to cancel out on Knitting Circle and a class at my LYS that was paid for etc...so - again sorry for being the cause of less than 100% participation. Literally, tons of personal things have had to be cancelled or postponed due to family issues that are at "critical mass" this week. Just thought ya'll would want to know.

Hufflepuff, you certainly deserve the House Cup. It was a battle hard fought, and the best team came out on top. But, Ravenclaw, we put up a fight and can't hang our heads.

Congrats to all the teams and each player. There are no losers in this group!

This was my first HSKS and I definitely look forward to the next one. In the meantime, I'll continue with my Quidditch practice. The bruises should be healed by then and the swelling should be down. I may be looking on ebay for a good deal on a broom though... Hopefully I will have perfected knitting and looking for the snitch at the same time!

Ladies, I have to say there were a few heart stopping minutes as I was totalling the points for the Houses Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. I wish I had some fanfare to play here. But, let me not delay any longer. I will let the numbers speak for themselves.

1st place - Ravenclaw 99%

2nd place - Slytherin 71%
(Includes 50 pt. bonus for 100% participation, way to go Slytherins!!)

....but that takes out the UK seekers, if the snitch is released at the early end of that time slot then I might find it but 4pm Pacific Time is 11pm UK time - 8pm is 3 in the morning so I'm going to be in bed I'm afraid!
